The short version: We only collect the information we need to run the auction and put your brand on the bus. That means your bid details, contact information, and any logo you upload. We do not sell your data, and we only share it with the payment processor and service providers who help us run the project.
Who we are
Advert Bus is a personal project run by Jack Taris. For privacy matters, the data controller is Jack Taris, trading as Advert Bus, contactable at jack@advertbus.co.uk.
What we collect
- Bid information: the spot you are bidding on, the amount, and any brand name you provide.
- Contact details: your email address, website, and optional X (formerly Twitter) handle, so we can confirm bids and contact winners.
- Logos and artwork: any image you upload to preview how your brand would appear on the bus.
- Usage data: anonymous site statistics such as visitor counts and page views to help us understand interest in the auction.
How we use your information
- To run the auction and determine winning bidders.
- To contact you about your bid, payment, or artwork.
- To display a preview of your brand on the bus diagram.
- To keep the site secure and prevent abuse.
- To analyse overall traffic and improve the experience.
Payment information
Deposits and final payments are processed by a third-party payment provider. We do not store your full card or bank details on our own systems. The payment processor handles that securely under their own privacy policy and PCI obligations.
Cookies and analytics
We use small cookies and analytics tools to count visitors and see how people move around the site. This data is aggregated and not used to identify individuals. You can disable cookies in your browser settings if you prefer.
How long we keep your data
We keep bid and contact information for as long as needed to run the auction, collect any payments, and fulfil the advertising placement. After the campaign ends, we usually delete or anonymise personal data within 12 months unless we are legally required to keep it longer.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can also object to processing or ask us to restrict how we use it. To make a request, email jack@advertbus.co.uk and we will respond as quickly as we can.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We only share it with trusted service providers, such as payment processing and hosting, or when required by law.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, but no online system is completely secure. Please use a strong password and keep your login details private if you have an account.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The latest version will always be posted here with the date it was last updated.
